Overview
Make me useful is designed to work locally in your browser.
The extension does not require account creation, does not use analytics, does not send timer or domain data to external servers, and does not sell or share personal data.
What data the extension accesses
The extension accesses the timer settings, current session state, domains entered by the user, and saved domain lists. When enforcing a guardrail, it may check the active tab URL to determine whether that tab should be blocked.
- timer durations and session configuration
- blocked or allowed domain names
- saved domain list names and contents
- the active tab URL only when checking a blocking rule
This information is used only to run the timer and apply the focus guardrails selected by the user.
What data the extension stores
Make me useful stores session configuration, timer state, and saved
domain lists locally in chrome.storage.local.
This information stays in the user's Chrome profile and is not sent to a developer-controlled server.
What the extension does not do
Make me useful does not:
- collect account details
- collect payment information
- build a browsing history
- inspect page contents
- track clicks, keystrokes, scrolling, or other activity
- upload domain or timer data to a remote server
- send telemetry or analytics events
- use advertising SDKs
- sell personal information
Permissions and why they are needed
alarms advances timer phases while the popup is closed.
declarativeNetRequest applies local blocking rules during
study phases and removes them during breaks or after completion.
storage saves the session configuration, timer state, and
saved domain lists locally in the browser.
tabs lets the service worker check and redirect an active tab
when it matches the user's blocking rules.
The <all_urls> host access scope allows the selected
blocking rules, including Superban, to apply across web pages.
Data sharing
The extension does not share timer settings, domain lists, active tab URLs, or other user data with the developer or third parties.
Your control
You decide which domains to block or allow, which lists to save, and when to start or reset a session. Removing the extension removes its locally stored data according to Chrome's extension storage behaviour.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the extension's functionality or data practices change. The latest version of the policy should be published alongside the project and any store listing used for distribution.
